Merchandise Manager – Men’s Global Merchandising – Leather Goods

Who You Are:
The Merchandise Manager for Men’s Global Merchandising – Leather Goods, is a critical role for the Men’s Michael Kors team. You will be responsible for architecting a brand-right product assortment for the Global Men’s business across channel (Retail/Wholesale/Outlet/Ecom) to position the brand for growth. You will work closely with the Design, Production, Wholesale, and Global Retail teams to ensure customer preferences are considered while balancing the overall brand guidelines and aesthetic with the desired financial objectives.
What You’ll Do:
Lead the development and execution of strategic assortment based on thorough knowledge of market, brand and business while addressing needs of each region and channel.
Own communication of business needs and partner with management to drive the strategic direction for Leather Goods as the key liaison between design, production, merchandising, global retail, and sales teams.
Lead the global alignment of assortments & Brand DNA by market as well as nuancing the regional needs by market
Work closely with design and production on costing and product development as well as quickly adapting on-order for emerging sales trends or declining product categories.
Manage the pricing strategy for global assortment to achieve GM targets while aligning with overall Global pricing direction and competitive landscape.
Generate business analyses to track selling, identify key trends and maximize opportunities to achieve continued growth and profitability of the Men’s Leather Goods business.
Responsible for seasonal Line Planning, Hind-sighting, Assortment building, Showroom Setup/Sales Meetings, Merchandising Directives, Competitive Shopping Analysis, Long lead time and Liability management.
Effectively manages and supports the career development of direct reports to ensure job satisfaction, retention and to identify and develop bench strength.
Strong sense of the men’s market across luxury and accessible tiers
Solid comprehension of the male consumer base, including geographical nuance
Ability to translate analysis into actionable business opportunities
Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills
Ability to interact with all levels of management and influence others
Excellent leadership skills and ability to mentor/develop talent of direct report (currently 1)
Excellent in Retail Math, Merchandising/Buying metrics
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs – Specifically Excel & Power Point
Strong presentation skills, especially visual presentation (Showroom set up)
Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment
Ability to work in NYC office 1-2 days a week
