Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Environmental Engineer/Scientist for employment in the Plaquemine, LA office (or a local client facility).

This position is expected to begin January 2022.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Planning environmental field investigations and monitoring events, including field resource coordination, scheduling, field document preparation, interfacing with equipment/supply vendors, tracking completion progress, and providing regular updates to the project manager.
  • Conducting environmental field work, including multi-media sampling, fluid level gauging, and oversight of field surveys and utility clearance for intrusive operations.
  • Supporting data analysis and report preparation.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or related.
  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
  • ​Must possess valid Driver’s license.
  • Requires enrollment in the medical monitoring program requiring initial and annual physicals.
  • Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test and random drug screens.
  • Must meet requirements for entry into client petrochemical facilities, including but not limited to: TWIC, Substance Abuse Testing, Background checks, and/or Site-specific training

Preferred Qualifications
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of the equipment and technology used to gather samples and information from the field.
  • Experience in a petrochemical environment.
  • Verbal and written communication skills; able to interface directly with project stakeholders.
  • Organization skills, attention to detail in recording field data.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software to create reports.
  • Ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, confined-space entry, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear an air-purifying respirator, as required by OSHA Standards.
  • 40 hour HAZ Materials Handling Training.
  • TWIC card holder.
  • GSHO Basic Plus training.
