TheFutureParty is a community-based media brand at the intersection of business & culture. We produce micro-events and tailored content for our network of tastemakers and creators in entertainment, music, art, fashion, technology and business. We also have a growing email newsletter that reaches tens of thousands of ambitious creative professionals every day.

Summary of Position:

TheFutureParty is seeking an Editor to oversee its daily newsletter. Reporting to our Co-founder & President, the Editor will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of content, overseeing the execution of the daily newsletter and delivery to a loyal audience.

The candidate should have an ability to write well and edit content for clarity concision and engagement while adhering to established guidelines and remaining ready to create new ones.

The Editor is a creative maverick who is strong with grammar and also a great storyteller who is culture obsessed and stellar at analyzing ideas and then intuitively translating them to people in an intelligible way. The content overseen by the Editor should be so good that members of the TheFutureParty's audience share it across all their other communities.

Role Priorities:
  • Editing (80%): Help craft and shape TheFutureParty's editorial voice. Ensure delivery and high quality of the daily newsletter, making sure our content adheres to TheFutureParty's writer's guide and tone. Make sure stories are logically structured and sometimes cover for writers when needed.
  • Management (20%): Oversee TheFutureParty editorial team, which includes everyone from writers to the copy editor & illustrator.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Edit the final newsletter product before publication at the end of each day.
  • Managing editorial calendars and related processes.
  • Oversee the production of a special weekend newsletter.
  • Brainstorm new editorial projects and franchises.
  • Dissect and understand audience data and engagement.
  • Improve editorial quality over time.
  • Manage daily newsletter writers and contributors.
  • Maintain writer's guide and TheFutureParty's tone & voice.
  • Ability to write the newsletter in certain extenuating circumstances.

  • At least 5+ years of professional writing and editing experience.
  • Ability to write & edit in TheFutureParty's voice/style (fun, insightful, cool, concise).
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Absolutely obsessed with culture, and the intersection of business, media, entertainment fashion, music & tech.
  • Strong journalistic judgment with a high fact-checking standards.
  • Ability to digest information and communicate it more concisely via writing.
  • Ability to analyze and draw conclusions from varying data points.
  • Proven interest in TheFutureParty's mission and the types of conversations the brand is having with its audience.
  • Track record of managing multiple projects and strict deadlines.
  • Willingness to work with and coach writers to improve clarity and tone.
  • Attention to detail with a strong creative and strategic drive.
  • A strong sense of empathy and the ability to function and communicate well with others.
  • Fluency with online publishing and organizational tools.
  • Generate ideas for other editorial initiatives and evergreen content.
