About the role:

We are seeking a Clinical Operations Specialist to be the outward-facing representatives of Genalyte. As we work to quickly and accurately bring data and results into the doctor’s office. This role is responsible for applying clinical knowledge and expertise to a wide array of responsibilities that may include performing clinical laboratory procedures, patient sample collection, accessioning, labeling and preparing samples for send outs, inventory and other CLIA/CAP related tasks. The Clinical Operations Specialist will also actively work alongside, communicate, and participate in research and development studies with R&D and Assay Dev. departments. The COS also is an active participant in the Product/Software development, maintenance, and testing of clinical technology and laboratory information systems (LIS) including databases, interfaces, and operational aspects of the laboratory.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Perform sample processing for clinical tests, including use of the Laboratory Information System, sample labeling, sample centrifugation and sample aliquoting.
  • Prepare samples for analysis in the CLIA and/or R&D space upon receipt from external clients.
  • Performs waived, moderate, or high level testing as described by CLIA.
  • Ensure operation of instrumentation by calibrating instruments, performing preventative maintenance, following manufacturer's instructions, and troubleshooting minor issues.
  • Receive and maintain laboratory supply inventory in concert with personnel responsible for clinical laboratory inventory management.
  • Participate in staff training, answering questions of other professionals, and participate in educational opportunities.
  • Identify and communicate abnormal patient conditions by alerting clinical management.
  • Perform phlebotomy, collection and processing of patient samples.
  • Perform tasks related to research and/or clinical trial studies assigned by Director, Laboratory Operations and external department Management.
  • Remain an asset to all departments to develop and/or modify methods, procedures, and tests.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
  • Serve as a technical resource by participating in staff training; answering questions of other professionals; participating in educational opportunities across departments.
  • Works with non-laboratory departments regarding laboratory processes to develop solutions for efficiency in product and software builds.
  • Apply clinical expertise in assay development and/or research and development processes.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Medical Technology, Life Sciences, or a related field

licensed by the State of California as a Medical Laboratory Technician(MLT)

OR
  • Bachelor’s degree, in a Science, in line with CLIA standards for high complexity or

laboratory developed testing
  • Strong knowledge of CLIA regulations and regulatory procedures .
  • Motivated individual, focused on the end result, and is motivated by a fast paced environment.
  • Working familiarity with CAP certification and proficiency programs.
  • Ability to work successfully within a culture of teamwork, collaboration and communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects accurately and efficiently with attention to details
  • Motivated individual, focused on the end result to change the approach to patient care.
