The Role:
In this role, you would be joining the Simulation & Modeling team at Farasis Energy's Hayward, CA office. Our mission is to serve our battery cell and pack engineering teams by providing world-class modeling support to push the innovation of our products. Our team provides simulation & modeling support in three core areas:
CFD / FEA modeling at cell and module scale for system design support.
Cell level physics-based modeling,
System-level modeling for system design and BMS controls development,
This Modeling Engineer is to formulate mathematical models for thermal & electrical performance of lithium-ion battery cells. The candidate will work closely with our in-house simulation software development team and specify detailed algorithms to be implemented.
Primary Responsibilities:
Formulate mathematical models of cell behavior based on physical and electrochemical phenomena
Document algorithms for calculation of voltage, current, internal resistance at various operating conditions
Battery Management System algorithm development
State estimation: State of Charge, State of Health, Power capability, Remaining useable energy, etc.
Model parameter modification due to cell aging
Develop test plans to obtain parameters for cell performance models
Perform model validation studies
Develop cell model blocks for system performance models in Matlab Simulink
Review newly published research for ideas to improve our models
Job Requirements:
PhD in Lithium-ion cell modeling is required
Course work in Battery controls and dynamics, electrochemical modeling, linear systems, optimization
Experience in modeling Li-ion cell electrochemical behavior in Comsol or Simulink
Experience with MATLAB or Python for simulating dynamic models is a must
Self-motivated and dedicated with proven creative and critical thinking capabilities
Mandarin language fluency is preferred (not required)
