Artsy seeks an Art Market Editor to assign, edit, and write editorial articles on the art market and collecting.

The Art Market Editor will oversee on-the-ground coverage of auctions and fairs, data storytelling, and features on collectors. They will work closely with Artsy’s in-house editorial team to conceptualize and execute content, and collaborate with freelance writers to publish stories on art-world events, trends, and market analysis.

Through thoughtful and diligent coverage, the Art Market Editor will position Artsy as a thought leader on the art market and an essential resource for collectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Edits or write 3+ stories per week, including sourcing images and building layouts
  • Develops a dynamic, monthly calendar of market and collecting content, including market analysis, auctions and fairs reporting, data storytelling, and collector profiles
  • On-the-ground reporting in New York and other cities during major art fair moments
  • Collaborates with the Associate Director of Content to set Art Market content strategy
  • Collaborates with colleagues across the Artsy organization to align content with the Artsy marketplace
  • Cultivates a network of talented freelance contributors
Candidate Qualifications
  • 3+ years of work experience in an editorial or journalistic capacity within the art world or the business and finance sector, ideally at a digital publication
  • Must have demonstrated skill with hands-on editing, as well as writing, pitching, and conceiving stories at a fast pace
  • Must have experience writing headlines, following a style guide, and optimizing text for SEO
  • Must have familiarity with the art market and contemporary art and feel comfortable discussing wider economic trends and how they translate to the art market
  • You are extremely organized, detail-oriented, and always meet deadlines
  • You are flexible, embrace opportunities for growth, and work well both independently and as part of a close-knit team
